IN-PERSON PRIVATE PROGRAM POLICIES
WELCOME TO YOUNG SINGERS ACADEMY! We are so excited to be on this singing journey with you to help your child sing with confidence!
TUITION
This auto-renewing month-to-month membership provides you with a reserved weekly lesson time, practice app, monthly special events, free annual in-person NYC recital, and free annual virtual recital. After your initial payment, all payments are processed by pre-authorized credit cards or auto-draft from checking accounts on the first of the month. A $75 non-refundable registration fee is due at initial sign-up. A late fee of $25 will be charged if payment is not received by the 10th of the month. If tuition is not received 10 days after the due date, lessons will be terminated. There are no refunds for missed lessons including other events, illness(es), and/or planned or unplanned school closings. Tuition is never prorated for missed lessons. Tuition does not include any retail teaching materials such as books.
AVERAGE OF FOUR LESSONS PER MONTH
Tuition is a flat monthly fee based on a 48-week year which averages out to 4 lessons per month. Academic Breaks: We are closed for a total of 4 weeks per year for academic breaks (1 week during Thanksgiving, Christmas, 4th of July, and March). This means in long months you will have five lessons, in short months you will have three lessons, and in most months will have four lessons. Holiday Reschedules: YSA also closes for major U.S. holidays and holiday weekends. Should your weekly reserved lesson time land on a holiday, you will be issued a Lesson Credit. You have 7 days to use the Lesson Credit to reschedule your lesson with any available online or in-person teacher via your account at ysa.opus1.io. The YSA Calendar is here on the website.
CANCELLATIONS AND MAKEUPS
Teacher Cancellations: For any lesson missed by a teacher, we will attempt to provide a substitute teacher. If a substitute teacher is unavailable, a Private Makeup Lesson Credit will be issued and scheduled promptly. There are no refunds. To cancel a lesson: Please log into your account at ysa.opus1.io and use the “Cancel” button which will notify your voice educator. You may also send your teacher a message using “Comments” in your portal. Before canceling your lesson, consider a "No Singing" Lesson! There's still plenty to do even if you are sick (no fever) or have lost your voice and can't sing! For any lesson missed by a student, the Academy offers asynchronous video coaching and holds in-person one-hour group make-up classes. When you cancel, you will automatically receive an In-Person Group Makeup Credit in your account. To schedule your Group Makeup Class: Log into your account at ysa.opus1.io, go to Credits, and click "Use" to schedule your makeup class. You must register at least 7 days in advance to reserve your spot. If you miss a lesson in your home, you must come to a studio location for your group make-up lesson. Studio Lessons only: With advance notice, studio location students may opt to have an online lesson during their regularly scheduled lesson time by logging in at ysa.opus1.io. No private makeups, tuition credit, or refund will be provided for any missed lessons or academic breaks. Makeup Lessons cannot be rescheduled - no makeups for makeups. Group Makeup Classes only may be rescheduled with 7 days advance notice. All Lesson Credits expire 30 days after membership ends.
SUMMER VACATION
YSA operates year-round and does not close for summer. We are happy to offer unlimited group makeups for our in-person students. Need more flexibility for summer? Click here to change to online lessons. The Online Private Program offers "Flexible Summer Scheduling" between June 1–August 31 which gives you the freedom to move your online lesson time (with at least 24 hours advance notice) within the week and bank up to 4 online lessons as Lesson Credits. This means you can take up to 4 summer weeks off from lessons at your convenience. You'll be able to use those lessons any time...perfect as a boost before a performance or during a school break when YSA is still in session and you have extra time. Need more than 4 weeks off? Click here to pause with a return date and we'll enroll you now. This will prioritize you over the New Student Wait List, secure your reserved time with your teacher, and save you the registration fee! Need to pause and can't commit to a return date? Click here to cancel. Please note that when you return, you’ll be added to the New Student Wait List, and your desired teacher and lesson time cannot be guaranteed when you return. Should you need to change plans, pause, or cancel, please complete and submit the online withdrawal form by the 15th of your last month.
DISCONTINUING LESSONS
To discontinue lessons and to discontinue charges to your account, click here to complete and submit the online withdrawal form by the 15th of your last month, e.g. a form received on May 16th is billed for June and takes effect July 1st (no membership or charge for July). There are no exceptions. You may withdraw the cancellation at any time before it takes effect, but your teacher and/or time slot cannot be guaranteed. We do not prorate tuition for the last month’s lessons. Students will be responsible for their last month’s tuition whether or not they attend lessons. A registration fee will be required to re-enroll once the withdrawal takes effect. Active membership is mandatory to participate in our lessons, events, exams, and recitals. All Make-up Lesson Credits on your account expire 30 days from your pause and cancellation effective date. Credits do not carry over to your return date. Membership is not transferable. Young Singers Academy does not provide tuition refunds under any circumstances. Young Singers Academy reserves the right to terminate membership, in which case prorated tuition will be refunded.
